Our mission
Most calculator sites give you a number and leave you to figure out the rest. GenToolLab is built on a different idea: the number is only useful if you understand what it means for your situation.
Whether you're calculating your BMR, planning a debt payoff, estimating dental implant costs, or running a discounted cash flow — each GenToolLab tool explains the formula, shows the calculation steps, and tells you what the result actually means in plain English.
What we build
GenToolLab focuses on two categories where accurate, well-explained tools genuinely help people:
Finance tools help with real money decisions: calculating how long it takes to pay off debt, whether a CD ladder beats a savings account, what your EBITA margin means, or how a dental implant can be financed. Health tools help people understand their body and fitness numbers — BMR, body fat percentage, calorie deficit, VO2 max — in context, not just as isolated figures.
Our tool standards
Every tool on GenToolLab is built to the same standard before it goes live:
Evidence-based formulas
Finance tools use recognised accounting and financial equations. Health tools reference peer-reviewed clinical sources — Mifflin-St Jeor, Harris-Benedict, CDC growth charts, SWAN study data, NHS and NICE guidelines.
Plain-English results
Every tool explains what the result means — not just a number. Interpretation sections translate outputs into actionable context so you know what to do with the answer.
Fast and private by design
All calculations happen in your browser using JavaScript. Your inputs are never sent to or stored on our servers. No account, no data collection from calculator use.
Connected to guides
Most tools link to a companion how-to guide covering the formula in depth, worked examples, and common mistakes — so users can learn, not just calculate.
Honest about limitations
Every tool carries a clear disclaimer. Calculator outputs are estimates and planning tools — not professional medical, financial, or legal advice. We say this clearly on every page.
How GenToolLab is supported
GenToolLab is free to use and will always be free. The site is supported through two revenue streams:
Advertising — We display ads through Google AdSense. Ads appear alongside tools and guides. Advertisers have no influence over our calculator outputs or content.
Affiliate links — Some pages contain affiliate links to relevant products or services. If you click through and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Affiliate relationships never change what our calculators show or recommend. See our full Affiliate Disclosure.
